Steve Capellini, LMT is a massage therapist right in the middle of his life, which is a dangerous and yet exciting place to be. He feels both empowered to help and yet more vulnerable every day to the great powers of uncertainty in the world at large. His specialties are in the spa world, especially medical spas at this stage. He writes books, offers consulting, and teaches workshops, and if you contact him via email with a well thought out explanation of your situation, he might be able to offer some ideas.

For almost 20 years I've been touching people's lives -- both physically through massage and metaphorically through words on the page. The most gratifying part of this life has been the personal contacts, the one-life-touched-at-a-time that has been my daily blessing for 2 decades.

Why massage? Why writing? Why both together, you ask? Good questions. I do these things because they are what my spirit brought me to. It seems to me that touching somebody else with caring and compassion is the exact opposite of shooting them with a gun or stabbing them with a bayonet or raping them. So, in this sense, massage is a sane response to the insanity of all those millions of sons and brothers and fathers killed in wars and violent crimes throughout history. And it's a humane response to all the grief caused when women are touched with the intent to violate them or take something away from them.

Sometimes I question why I'm still here. "Why not get a normal job in an airtight glass building?" I ask myself. And the only answer that ever comes is this: I CANNOT do anything else because it depresses me too much and I get morose and nobody can stand to be around me. Besides, I need adventure. Life for me has become one long ongoing Massage Adventure, and now you're a little part of it, especially if you decide to get in touch with me.

Much of my massage career has been spent working in health spas, and that was the subject of my first book, The Royal Treatment. Spas are great because they're places where people care for each other in compassionate ways. We all deserve The Royal Treatment, not just the rich & famous, and that's why I wrote the book. Based on the model of the spa, we can all give The Royal Treatment to each other. I continue to work within the spa industry.

Presently a partner and I are creating the spa for the Pritikin Longevity Center(r) in Miami. Now I'm interested in inspiring others to take up the career of massage therapy and be successful at it, and that's why I wrote my second book,Massage Therapy Career Guide.

To Tell The Truth My latest adventure is to tell a lot of non-professionals about massage and about how they can give themselves and the ones they love The Royal Treatment. That's why I wrote Massage for Dummies. It's for everybody who would like to include the pleasures and benefits of massage in their lives. These days I spend my time on massaging, writing, teaching, consulting in the spa industry, and engaging in promotional endeavors:

I've been a spokesperson for S.C. Johnson's Glade aromatherapy, Lands' End home-spa catalogue, and the California Avocado Commission (don't ask). I also love being with my family, which includes my wife Atchana and two year old boy Brandon, at our home in Miami, Florida.
