Mike graduated from the Florida
School of Massage Therapy in Gainesville, Florida in 1984. While
in massage school he participated in his first sports massage
workshop, taught by Benny Vaughn, and has been a practicing
sports massage since 1985.
In 1985 he began
instructing massage therapy students in sports massage techniques
at the Reese Institute in Orlando, Florida. He developed the
advanced sports massage internship program, which is currently
being taught in conjunction with the athletic department at
the University of Central Florida.
In 1990, Michael McGillicuddy earned his American Massage Therapy
Association Event Sports Massage Certification. In 1990 he also
became a Florida State approved Continuing Education Provider
for Massage Therapists and is currently an approved provider for
National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodyworks.
He has presented sports massage lectures at the following conventions:
Florida State Massage Therapy Association Convention, the Florida
Chiropractic Convention, the Florida State Athletic Trainers Convention
and the South Lake Memorial Hospital Sports Medicine Symposium.
Michael has served the Florida State Massage Association in the
following positions: team member, sports massage team trainer,
director of sports massage and is currently the First Vice President.
Some of the highlights
of Michael's career have been receiving the Florida State Massage
Therapy Association Sports Massage Therapist of the Year Award
in 1994, attending a Sports Massage Seminar in Switzerland in
1995, attending an Australian Massage Therapy Exchange Program
in 1996, and being chosen as a Massage Therapist for the 1996
Centennial Olympic Games. In addition, he recently won the Florida
Chiropractic Association Massage Therapists of the Year Award
for 2000.
Michael McGillicuddy
is currently the owner and administrator of the Central Florida
School of Massage Therapy in Winter Park, Florida, where he
teaches and practices massage therapy.
